You love Interior Design. You've seen some beautiful spaces on Instagram and Pinterest. You have a few ideas. You know the space isn't working for you, but where do you begin?

What color should I choose? Should the wall color stand out or fade back? How about the trim color? Matte? Satin? Gloss? Should I paint the ceiling? Where do I stop the wall color? Will the living room color clash with my dining room?

Where should I put the sofa? What shape coffee table should I get? Will two chairs fit? Will this cabinet stick out too far into the room? Will it look crowded? Will there be enough room to walk around? Will I be able to see the TV? Is there enough seating?

I like different styles. Do they work together? Which style looks right in my house? Does this sofa go with this coffee table? Is neutral furniture too boring? Is this pattern too busy? Do these colors work together? Is my old sofa still okay? Will this table I love work with the new design?

What style rug should I get? What color should it be? Will a pattern be too busy? How big should it be? How do you position the rug with a sectional sofa? Do I choose the rug first or the furniture?

There are so many factors to consider!

Lighting

What kind of art should I get? How big should it be? Do I center it on the wall or the sofa? How high should I hang it? Which colors should it pick up? What type of frame works with this design? Would a mirror look good here?

Does this room need a ceiling fixture? What style should it be? How big should it be? Gold or silver finish? What works better, a floor lamp or a table lamp? Should there be a light fixture above this table?

Pillows and accessories are easy, right? Not so much. They are important for any design, providing interest, softness and balance. They create a filled-out, cohesive look. Pillows should have colors, patterns and textures that work together, and pull together all the elements in the room. Accessories drive home the design style. They fill out the space, adding symmetry, height or weight where needed. Pillows and accessories also carry color around the room creating a beautiful harmony.

So, yeah. It's a lot.

How the Process Works

Tell me about your design style!

It's designed to help me learn about your style, budget and your needs for the space. You can upload inspiration photos and provide a link to a Pinterest board or other website so I can see spaces that inspire and excite you!

The questionnaire includes instructions to help you measure and photograph your space.

When you receive your design, you'll have a chance to look over everything. You can approve or reject any item, and give feedback to help me get it just right. Depending on the package you choose, your design can be revised either once or twice.

You should hire a Virtual Designer if:

If you are not up to certain tasks, like painting walls for instance, you're okay getting someone to help you out.

If Virtual Design isn't right for you, I am available for in-person design services in the Philadelphia area.

Your design will include a customized floor plan and mood board with shopping links for furniture, art and accessories.

You enjoy DIY and being hands-on.

You are able to measure and photograph your space.

You're fine purchasing everything for your project through the provided links.

You're okay receiving deliveries and possibly assembling some pieces.

You feel comfortable following the floor plan and instructions provided to arrange your furniture, art and accessories.

You are okay with communicating via email, text and FaceTime. Most of our communication will be through an online portal where you will access your project, provide feedback and see updated design plans.

You want most of your budget to go toward purchases for your project, rather than paying your designer an hourly rate. Full-service design is expensive! If you're willing to do some of the work yourself, you can save a lot of money!
